An advocate and leader of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya was killed as unidentified armed men opened fire at him in Nankana Sahib on Thursday morning.
No application for the registration of an FIR has been filed so far, reportedly. According to the Jamaat’s spokesperson Latif, who was the president of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, Nankana city, was also Nobel laureate Dr Abdus Salam’s cousin.
According to a report issued by the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, at least six Ahmadis were killed in Pakistan in 2016 because of their religious beliefs. Saleemudin, the spokesperson for the group, has cited Ordinance XX which later came to be known as the Blasphemy Law as the main reason behind targeted killings of Ahmadis.
