Two killed, eleven injured in train accident in Sheikhupura

LAHORE: Two persons, including the driver of Shalimar Express, were killed while six others severely injured when the Karachi-bound train collided with an oil-tanker at a level crossing at the Hiran Minar Road, on Monday night. 

Two to three bogies and the engine caught fire as soon as the train collided with the oil tanker. According to Deputy Commissioner Arqam Tariq, Fire Brigade and Rescue 1122 reached the spot to control the fire. Rescue 1122 and Edhi ambulances shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura while emergency has been declared in all hospitals of the city.

According to Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, the accident happened due to the mistake of the oil tanker’s driver.

DPO Sarfraz Khan Virk said that driver of the oil tanker has been arrested and investigation was underway.
