President Mamnoon Hussain has called for measures to improve safety of old buildings and congested areas.
He was addressing launching ceremony of National Disaster Management Authority’s Building Control Code at a ceremony here Monday.
The president pointed out that the new code would be applicable to new buildings, but there are more risks of fire in old and dilapidated buildings, as well as hanging electricity wires and other cables in areas of high population density.
Mamnoon expressed satisfaction regarding the new building codes, hoping that process of further improving these codes would continue.
