Police to upload criminals’ record on website

Punjab police will put record of criminals, stolen vehicles and pictures of proclaimed offenders on its website while the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) will monitor all the matters that come under the fourth schedule.

These decisions were taken in a RPO meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhaira held at Central Police Office here on Wednesday to review police performance and law and order situation of four months.

It was also decided in the meeting that search and sweep operation would continue in the province due to prevailing security situation.

The meeting was briefed that 3,132 proclaimed offenders have been arrested through the Criminal Tracking Facility whereas 2,600 vehicles and 4,300 motorcycles have also been recovered during the period.

The IGP directed the field officers to take stern action to control and eliminate the incidents of car and motorcycle theft.

The police officials have also been directed to conduct darbar at Police Lines on every Monday in their respective districts to boost the morale of police personnel.

On the occasion, the IGP was briefed about the actions taken to implement National Action Plan (NAP) under which 1,841 cases on violation of sound system ordinance were registered and 1,744 accused were arrested.

However, 1,471 challans were submitted in which 704 accused were convicted. Similarly, on violation of wall chalking, 369 cases were registered inwhich 325 accused were arrested whereas 109 accused have so far been convicted in 363 challans submitted by the police.

On violation of security ordinance of sensitive places, 1,310 cases have been registered inwhich 1,094 accused have also been arrested.

The police have also registered 277 cases on printing of hatred material and arrested 351 besides submitting challans of 321 people and 89 accused were convicted in these cases.
