President approves Justice Nasir as new CJP

President Mamnoon Hussain approved the appointment of Justice Nasirul Mulk as the new chief justice of Pakistan on Monday

The incumbent CJP Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani will retire on July 4. He will be replaced by Justice Mulk, who is the senior most judge of the Supreme Court.

The new chief justice will be sworn in on July 5.

Justice Mulk was born on August 17, 1950 in Swat, Pakistan. He completed his degree of Bar-at-Law from Inner Temple London and was called to the Bar in 1977.
