ISLAMABAD
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) sponsored “Jeeway Pakistan Cycle Rally” starting from Muzafargarh on April 23, reached Headquarter ANF, Rawalpindi on Monday, covering 780 kilometres.
ANF Director General Maj Gen Khawar Hanif welcomed the participants and appreciated the high spirit of volunteers in sharing noble cause in creating awareness against drugs, said a press release. The rally was headed by Latif Sial and comprised 10 cyclists in all, mostly of national fame, however 8 out of them could make to Rawalpindi.
These cyclists covered 780 km, adopting different legs en-route, Multan, Chichawatani, Okara, Pattoki, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujjar Khan and Rawalpindi. The rally intends to go to Murree as well.
The purpose of the rally is to create awareness amongst masses particularly young generation, adopting the motto “Say no to drugs”. Pursuing the anti-drug message, cyclists also distributed pamphlets, handouts and stickers at schools, colleges, bus stands and other public places.
During the journey they also delivered speeches and generated motivational discussions/talks for healthy living. The message against drugs was also imprinted on flags, banners and T-shirts of the rally.
The ANF has been a traditional supporter of this healthy activity and had been supporting it for the last 10 rallies.
The rally is an expedition by itself, which is open for all volunteers to join any leg of the journey or by welcoming/meeting the rally members en route at their location of convenience.
