Police resort to baton charge on Nadra employees

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) employees working on a contract basis staged a protest demonstration in front of the Nadra headquarters on Tuesday.

The employees demanded that they be regularised and that the employees who were laid off be reemployed.

The protest call was given by the Nadra Employee Welfare Association.

The police resorted to attacking the protesting employees with batons, due to which many protesters were injured.

In retaliation, the protesters pelted the police with stones, injuring three police officials, including Secretariat SHO Inspector Hakim Khan.

A few of the protesters were also arrested.

It is relevant to note here that the Nadra employees have been protesting across the country for regularisation, after which the Nadra authorities sacked 61 protesting employees.
