IGPs support spreading out women’s police networks

LAHORE – In a country where women comprise about 50 percent of the population, and the most crimes that occur do so against women, it is also women police officers (WPOs) that are needed the most in order to make the police force more viable and more gender sensitive.
Campaigning for the inclusion of more women, especially from an educated background, in the police is integral but to achieve this result there must be all-out support given by some of the police high-ups as well.

National Women’s Football C’ship starts today

LAHORE – Frontier College, who earned a surprise quarter-final spot in last year’s National Women’s Championship, will face Striker Club on Friday, April 15 when the fourth edition of the National Women’s Football Club C’ship 2011 commences at Peshawar. The event will be played at five zones. PFF has announced the draws, with matches in Islamabad set to start from April 19, while the matches in Karachi, Quetta and Lahore will be played from April 21.
