Margala, Peshawar Club earn wins

LAHORE – Peshawar Club earned their first win in the fourth edition of the National Women’s Football Club Championship on Tuesday. They beat Striker FC 2-0 in the Group D match at Frontier College for Women. Midfielder Tahira landed the opener in the 29th minute while Arifa added another in the 64th minute. Frontier have already topped their Group with six points, entering the 7th National Women’s Championship slated to run at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium from September 17 to 30.

Three militants, one cop killed in Peshawar shootout

PESHAWAR – At least three militants were gunned down in a clash with police at Hayatabad Industrial Estate in the wee hours of Monday. The encounter also left a police officer dead and a constable injured. The incident occurred when dozens of militants attacked a police post at Hayatabad Industrial estate before the dawn. They killed an assistant sub inspector (ASI), Sajid Khan and injured one police constable.

PESHAWAR – Three militants and a policeman were killed in a pre-dawn gunfight in Peshawar on Monday, police said.
The clashes took place in the wealthy suburb of Hayatabad when a group of five militants attacked a police patrol with small machine guns and Kalashnikovs, police said.
“Three militants were killed during the exchange of fire. We also lost one of our policemen,” said Shafiullah Khan, a senior police officer.

PESHAWAR – Two Police Personnel including Station House Officer (SHO) were injured in a roadside remote control bomb blast near Rehman Baba Colony here on Friday.
According to details, SHO Khan Razzaq Police Station and a gunman were wounded when their vehicle hit a roadside remote control bomb blast near Rehman Baba Colony in Shauba Bazar.

PARACHINAR – Militants ambushed a convoy of vehicles carrying members of an anti-Taliban tribe on the Afghan border on Friday, killing eight and wounding five, tribesmen and government officials said.

Bomb goes off early in Peshawar mosque, no casualties

PESHAWAR – A bomb exploded prematurely inside a mosque in Peshawar shortly before prayers on Friday but caused no loss of life, the police said.
