LAHORE – Pakistan assistant coach Aaqib Javed has defended Pakistan’s strategy in the ongoing World Cup, questioned by greats Imran Khan and Wasim Akram. Imran, Wasim and other former Test players believe that Pakistan can land into trouble against stronger oppositions in the World Cup as they are playing one bowler short in the competition.
But Aaqib believes the team’s inconsistent batting line-up needs a boost. “No team goes in with five specialist bowlers.

Akmal, not Taylor, Pakistan’s demolition man

RINGSIDE VIEW – Kamran Akmal is a one-man demolition team – for his own side. No Pakistan team has suffered such misery for so long at the hands of a wicket-keeper so grossly incompetent (ask the lay man in the street anywhere in Pakistan, and he would tell you in chaste local dialect laced with few invectives of what he thinks of his antics behind the stumps, with an insinuation or three). The mystery is that after being ceaselessly dented by the elder Akmal, how the Pakistani

Hafeez sees end to Pakistan’s opening misery

PALLEKELE – Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez admitted on Monday that he and fellow struggling opener Ahmed Shahzad have let their team down, but a World Cup blitz could be just one innings away. Despite the lack of good starts, Pakistan’s middle-order has fired to help the team win all
