LAHORE – Lahore Whites and Sayid Paper Mills moved into the regional semi-finals of the 13th National Seniors Cricket Cup after winning their matches at different venues in Lahore. Lahore Whites defeated Multan Tigers by 55 runs. Lahore scored 179-7 in 24 overs against Multan at Khayaban-e-Amin Ground and bowled the opposition out for 124.

LAHORE – An alleged robber was killed during a “friendly fire” while two of his accomplices had been arrested, police claimed on Thursday. Police said that the alleged robber sustained a bullet and died soon afterwards, when his accomplices opened fire on the house-owner during a robbery attempt in Nishtar Colony area.

Govt hospital in Lahore robbed

LAHORE – Four armed robbers disguised as patients robbed the Government Hospital Shahdara on Wednesday. The criminals, riding on a car, entered the hospital and one of them pretended as a patient.
Later, they held the staff, including nurses and doctors, at gunpoint and snatched more Rs 40,000 in cash and four mobile phones before fleeing the crime scene. The duty officer of the hospital said only four to five employees were present at the time of incident.

CNG dealers go on strike, no petrol in Lahore today

Shahbaz visits Lahore Book Fair

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the Lahore Book Fair, which is being organised with collaboration of the Punjab government.
More than 160 publishers from India, Pakistan, UK and the US are participating in the book fair with more than 200 stalls.

LAHORE – The 25th Lahore International Book Fair 2011 will kick off today at Lahore Expo Center, Johar Town. Books from a wide range of categories will be presented for sale at the book fair which will continue till April 11. Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif will open the book fair that will have hundreds of stalls from India, England, America and Pakistan.

LAHORE – Two-day trials to select the Lahore Football Team for the Punjab Games 2011 will be held at Lahore’s Raiders FC Ground from April 5 to 6.
