Dawn of a new tenure: Sindh’s ‘Higher Education Commission’

KARACHI – With Islamabad devolving responsibility of educating the people to provincial governments, Sindh is finalising arrangements to establish its Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Today has learnt. With the devolution of five more ministries – including Education – to the provinces under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, all four provincial governments were supposed to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to ensure continuation in matters that were dealt with by the HEC.

‘17,000 students given scholarships for higher education’

GUJRANWALA – Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has enhanced endowment fund from Rs 2 billion to Rs 6 billion and 17,000 male and female students have been awarded scholarships for higher education. GCU Faisalabad to carry on higher education programmes, says VC

FAISALABAD – The dissolution of Higher Education Commission (HEC) is regrettable, but Government College University (GCU), despite all odds, will do its level best to continue its programmes without putting the extra financial burden on its students, said Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zakir Hussain.
