KARACHI – The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) announced on Wednesday that it would move the Supreme Court of Pakistan against a parliamentary committee’s decision whereby the proposal for extension of two Sindh High Court (SHC) judges was rejected.
The SHCBA took the decision at a meeting chaired by SHCBA President Anwar Mansoor Khan and attended by SHCBA office-bearers and senior lawyers. The participants of the meeting condemned the parliamentary committee’s decision
ISLAMABAD – The meeting of the parliament’s National Security Affairs Committee, scheduled to take place on February 15, was cancelled due to resignation of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Raza Rabbani, chairman of the committee said on Sunday. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, was to brief the National Security Affairs Committee about important security issues. The chairman of the committee Raza Rabbani also said that the meeting would be called soon.
LAHORE – The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) on Tuesday constituted two committees to eliminate encroachments and announced to prepare a list of town officials patronising encroachers. The district-level committee would work under supervision of the Lahore district coordination officer (DCO), members of national and provincial assemblies while TMOs and local policemen would observe the committees’ working at the town-level.

ISLAMABAD – The committees formed by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif to implement the PML-N’s reforms agenda will have their first formal meeting in the
next few days.
In response to the PML-N’s four-member committee, Gilani had also formed a committee last Thursday comprising federal ministers Babar Awan, Naveed Qamar, Pervez Ashraf, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Raza Rabbani which in collaboration with the PML-N team
The government wants to establish more Civil-Military Liaison Committees in all parts of Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) to ensure development activities.
Officials in the FATA Secretariat told Pakistan Today that they had successfully implemented the plan as pilot projects in two FATA agencies, which were giving positive results.
