Bahrain National Guard commander holds high-level defence talks with Pakistan's military leadership

Bahrain National Guard commander H.H. General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa met Pakistan’s top military leaders at GHQ, Navy and Air HQ to discuss regional security and deepen defence cooperation.

RAWALPINDI: Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, H.H. General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday, where both sides discussed regional security, defence cooperation and ways to further strengthen bilateral military ties.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries reviewed matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional security environment and opportunities for enhancing defence and security collaboration between Pakistan and Bahrain.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries and underscored the importance of expanding military-to-military cooperation.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Bahrain, while both sides emphasized the need for closer collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest.

Separate meetings with Naval and Air Chiefs

Earlier, the Bahraini commander also held separate meetings with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

At Naval Headquarters, discussions focused on bilateral defence cooperation and regional maritime security. General Shaikh Mohammad praised the Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting cooperative maritime security and acknowledged its contribution as a stabilising force in the region.

During the meeting at Air Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber briefed the visiting dignitary on the Pakistan Air Force’s ongoing modernization programme, including capability enhancement, infrastructure development, indigenisation initiatives and advanced training reforms.

The discussions also covered emerging defence technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors and digital innovation, as well as evolving air defence challenges and integrated defence architectures.

Bahraini commander praises Pakistan armed forces

The Bahrain National Guard commander lauded the professionalism, operational preparedness and contributions of Pakistan’s armed forces toward regional peace and stability.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s progress in military modernization and indigenous defence capabilities, expressing keen interest in expanding cooperation in training, emerging technologies and capacity-building initiatives.

Defence partnership to grow further

The visit reflects the deep-rooted defence partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain and is expected to further strengthen military cooperation and strategic engagement between the two brotherly countries.
