Forget GTA 6, FV Mods creates Grand Theft Auto multiverse within GTA V

While Rockstar Games takes its time developing GTA VI, a hobbyist modder known as FV Mods has built their own “Grand Theft Auto Multiverse” inside GTA V, adding new worlds to the already expansive map.

FV Mods released a trilogy of massive map add-ons, transforming “San Andreas” into a global patchwork. With these additions, players can explore whole new countries without needing a new game.

The first release is Oldburries, a fictional rural Canadian town featuring farmland, pine woods, and quiet streets—a place you might end up after following poor GPS directions. The second map, Largo Hillio, is a mix of a national park and racing circuit, connected to the original world by a massive suspension bridge. Lastly, the European Freeway Project introduces an eight-lane, pan-continental motorway.

The key feature of these expansions is their connectivity. Players can load all three maps at once, effectively turning GTA V into a DIY flight simulator. You can fly a stolen plane from Los Santos and land in a remote Canadian town.

FV Mods explained their motivation on Nexus Mods, saying, “I just wanted to expand the world in ways Rockstar never will. GTA V is 10 years old, but that doesn’t mean the map has to be.”

While the project is impressive, the community’s reactions have been mixed. Some players criticize the “PS2-looking” terrain, with comments highlighting the low-poly graphics and empty spaces. Others argue the new areas are fun to explore but may lose their appeal after a short time.

The longevity of the project remains uncertain, as Rockstar and Take-Two have a history of issuing takedowns for modded content. Despite these risks, FV Mods continues to expand the world of San Andreas with new, creative additions.
