Justice Mansoor Ali Shah takes oath as acting CJP, filling in for Justice Afridi

ISLAMABAD: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has taken the oath of office as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) following the temporary absence of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is currently abroad for Hajj.

The oath was administered by Justice Ayesha A. Malik in a ceremony at the Supreme Court building, attended by fellow Supreme Court judges and senior lawyers.

Chief Justice Afridi is expected to return to Pakistan on June 10, 2025, at which time he will resume his official duties.

Prior to Justice Shah’s appointment as acting CJP, Justice Munib Akhtar had temporarily served in the role until June 6 during Justice Shah’s overseas trip.
