PTI leader Aliya Hamza granted bail, released from Jhelum prison

JHELUM: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Punjab Chief Organizer, Aliya Hamza, was released from District Jail Jhelum on Thursday night, following the approval of her post-arrest bail.

Hamza, who had been detained since April 18, left for Lahore under tight security after her release. Judicial Magistrate Qamar Abbas had approved her bail against surety bonds worth Rs. 100,000 the previous day.

Hamza was arrested in Rawalpindi along with six PTI colleagues in a case registered at the Airport Police Station. They faced accusations of interfering in government affairs, blocking roads, and throwing stones at police officers. The group had been leading a workers’ convention when the incident occurred.

On April 19, Hamza was brought before a local court in Islamabad and placed on a 14-day judicial remand at Adiala Jail. However, due to overcrowding in the female barracks, she was transferred to Jhelum Jail.

Her release order was received by jail authorities on Thursday evening. The PTI leader was released after 10 PM and was met by her legal team and family members, all while under strict security measures.

The development marks a significant moment for the PTI as Hamza’s release comes amid ongoing political tensions and legal battles for party leaders and workers.
