What happens if Bangladesh’s Test series with Pakistan, India gets cancelled? Find out

The political turmoil in Bangladesh has cast a shadow over the cricketing world, creating a crisis for the national team. Following the recent ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government, the country is engulfed in chaos.

The unrest has led to severe disruptions, including the burning of cricketers’ homes, breaches of parliamentary buildings, and escalating violence.

With the Bangladesh cricket team scheduled to play a crucial World Test Championship (WTC) series against Pakistan and India, the situation is rapidly deteriorating.

The team is set to embark on a two-match Test series against Pakistan, followed by another two-match series against India.

However, due to the ongoing political instability, the airbase in Bangladesh has been closed, leading to the cancellation of flights and creating a significant security threat for the players.

According to the rules of the WTC, if a team fails to travel for a scheduled series, the opposing team is awarded a walkover and earns all the points.

In this case, Pakistan will gain important points for their goal of reaching the WTC finals. Meanwhile, India, currently at the top of the points table, would also gain from the walkover, further solidifying their lead.

Conversely, Bangladesh, if unable to participate, would fall to the bottom of the table, adversely affecting their chances in the championship
