Donald Trump calls Kamala Harris ‘weird’ as election campaigning heats up

In a recent interview with a private news outlet’s host Laura Ingraham, former President Donald Trump deflected criticism by labeling Vice President Kamala Harris as the “weird” one in the 2024 presidential race. This move came as a response to Democrats using the same term against Trump and his running mate, JD Vance.

During the interview, which aired on Tuesday, Trump did not hold back his criticism. “You know who’s plain weird? She is plain weird,” he remarked. “She is a weird person. Look at her past. Look at what she does. And look at what she used to say about herself. She became a totally different person, only for political purposes.”

Trump also criticized Harris for including her pronouns—she/her—in her social media profiles, suggesting it was an unusual move. When Ingraham asked Trump about his own pronouns, he replied, “I don’t want pronouns,” to which Ingraham quipped, “So you’re fluid.” Trump dismissed the concept, adding, “Nobody even knows what that means. They’re going crazy.”

In a segment aired the previous night, Trump defended his running mate, Senator JD Vance, against accusations of being weird. He brushed off Democrats’ claims despite Vance’s controversial comments about women and voting. Notably, Vance had previously described childless people as “sociopaths” and “psychotic,” statements that have resurfaced, fueling the Democrats’ critique.

The Democratic campaign has persistently used the term “weird” to describe Trump and Vance. At a campaign rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, Vice President Harris asked the crowd, “Don’t you find some of their stuff to be just plain weird?”

This exchange of name-calling highlights the escalating rhetoric as both sides intensify their campaigns. While Democrats continue to brand Trump and Vance as “weird,” Trump’s counterattack on Harris indicates his readiness to adopt and repurpose their tactics.
