Four-time FinMin Dar blames Imran for historic inflation, ravaged economy

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has blamed the previous government of Imran Khan for soaring inflation and a damaged economy, declaring the people were fully aware of the former prime minister’s “lies, corruption, and conspiracies.”

Dar who last month declared he knew how to deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and no one had to worry about anything regarding the economy anymore, on Tuesday said it was in fact Khan who was to be held accountable for the economic crises surrounding Pakistan today.

He claimed the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was politicising national institutions for his vested interests and the party leadership was not sincere in resolving real issues.

Talking to a TV station, he said Khan’s party was “hatching conspiracies” to entangle the people and the institutions to fight with each other.

The misleading conspiracy-induced statements are linked to their bad intentions, he added. Khan and his aides diverting public attention from real issues were making hater statements in public one after the other, he said.

He made it clear that Shahbaz Sharif was striving for real freedom in the country. He was leading the nation with an independent foreign policy merely focused on the betterment of its people, Dar said.

He said it was ironic that Khan’s incompetence and bad economic policies were the reason behind the inflation being faced by the people, and now Khan and his party were shamelessly blaming the incumbent government for PTI’s bad governance and incompetence.

He advised Khan that instead of making hue and cry, he should hold himself accountable for inflation and economic crisis.
