Pakistani delegation to participate in 22nd Commonwealth Games

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan sports contingent will participate in the upcoming 22nd Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held from 28th July to 8th August 2022 in Birmingham, UK in which athletes from the 72 countries will compete.

The opening ceremony will be held on July 28, 2022 and the Closing Ceremony is due to take place on 8th August 2022.

The players will participate in 12 disciplines including Aquatics (swimming) Athletics, Para-Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Squash, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.

Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, Ehsan-Ur-Rehman Mazari will also be part of the contingent to represent the country in the Commonwealth Inter Ministerial meeting.

Vice-President, POA Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri Gillani will serve as Chef-de-Mission while Director General Col. (Retd.) Muhammad Asif Zaman will function as Deputy Chef-de-Mission.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will back only those athletes who have bright chances to win medals to bring laurels for the country. Moreover, PSB throughout the year established training camps for effective participation in the mega international events.

The National Women cricket team will also participate in these games.
