Karachi police recover Dua Zehra from Bahawalnagar

LAHORE: The police on Sunday recovered Dua Zehra, a teenage girl who had gone missing from her Karachi home and later surfaced in Punjab, in a raid in Bahawalnagar.

Police also arrested her young husband, Zaheer Ahmad, taking the couple into protective custody.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zubair Sheikh, the two were recovered from the Chishtian city of Bahawalnagar district after conducting several raids.

He further said the police also arrested a facilitator during the raid and handed him over to the Lahore police.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell of Karachi police with the help of Punjab police conducted the raid.

Sheikh informed that police launched raids in all provinces, including Kashmir, and collected data of hundreds of people and recovered the girl after short-listing these people.

Zehra and Ahmad would be presented before the court in Karachi on Monday, Sheikh said, adding the couple was not using their mobile phones to hide their location.

Sheikh said the couple would possibly be shifted to Karachi later today. He said the court would decide with whom Dua would stay.
