PM wins hearts of poor by giving historical relief package: Rasheed

'No-trust move shakes the foundation of a country'

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has won the hearts of the poor people by giving historical relief package.

Addressing the participants at World Civil Defence Day celebrations held at National Institute of Fire Technology in Islamabad, the minister said that Pakistan is pursuing a neutral foreign policy under the leadership of Imran Khan.

He said that the importance of civil defence is undeniable, adding that civil defence has always been at the forefront of relief work particularly in natural calamity.

The minister said that the authorities of civil defence deserve tribute for their outstanding services, adding that civil defence now needs to be innovated and adapted to modern requirements.

Congratulating the civil defence, he said that the role of the organisation in October 8 earthquake and 1965 war was commendable.

He said that the department should regularly conduct training sessions to impart training to the students in educational institutions of the provinces, adding that NGOs should also be trained in this regard.

To a question about Pakistan People’s Party’s long march, the minister said that the opposition parties cannot succeed to achieve their set goals and the PTI government would complete its constitutional term.

Referring to the opposition parties’ talks of moving a no-confidence motion against the PM, he said that a no-trust move “shakes the foundation of a country” and is not an easy task.

He maintained that the opposition parties have failed in their agenda against the PTI government and that the no-trust motion being proposed by them still has a long way to go.

He said the government is trying to provide relief to the people and all available resources would be utilised to address poverty and inflation.

The minister said that three women universities were set up in Rawalpindi, adding that all-out efforts were made to promote female education in Rawalpindi.
