Punjab govt issues guidelines for Eid prayers, sacrificial animals

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday issued standard operating procedures for Eidul Adha prayer and sacrifice of animals in wake of a surge in Covid infections that has stoked fears of a fourth wave.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department, the payers would be held at open places and where it is offered indoors, the doors and windows would remain open to ensure cross ventilation.

“Eid prayers should be offered in phases to avoid mass congregations,” it said while further requesting scholars and clerics to ensure keeping the sermons short to minimise the risk of Covid spread.

The notification issued by the Punjab government also directed against bringing ailing, aged, and children for prayers. “Those entering the prayer area should be tested for temperature besides also being sanitised,” it said.
