KP govt devises new rules for housing schemes

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has issued a number of new rules for housing schemes located within the province.

According to the draft rules and regulations, private housing schemes will be divided into five categories. Category D will be the smallest housing scheme with a maximum size of 50 kanals while in category C would be of 50 to 100 kanals, category B scheme must cover an area of 100 to 200 kanals while category A would cover an area of 200 to 500 kanals. The housing scheme larger than 500 kanals will be called a mega housing scheme.

The width of the main road in the smallest category will be 40 feet, while the width of streets would be 25 feet, and the maximum size of domestic plots will be one kanal.

Similarly, it is mandatory for housing schemes to allot areas for garbage disposal and graveyards. At least 2pc of the area from Category B to mega housing will have to be allotted for cemetery area whereas 5pc to 10pc for commercial activities, 10 marla to 2 kanal for garbage collection and also for grid station.

Similarly, the size of a residential plot can be kept up to a maximum of 2 kanals.

Concerned deputy commissioners (DCs) have been assigned the authority to keep a check over housing schemes and implement the rules and regulations of the provincial government.
