CDA allots plots worth millions on fake documents

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Agency (CDA) has allotted plots worth millions of rupees on fake documents with the connivance of land and revenue officials, Profit learnt on Sunday.

CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmad had established a committee to check fake allotments after which the committee gathered documents from the civic agency’s revenue and land wing.

According to documents, officials of CDA’s revenue wing had verified 40 kanal in Sara-e-Karboza under Nusrat Shaheen’s name in 2014.

Subsequently, CDA’s land wing allotted ten plots worth Rs180 million in C16 worth under the woman’s name.

Sources said that the committee wrote a letter to Islamabad Capital Territory’s (ICT) revenue wing for the record’s verification with regard to the land in Sara-e-Karboza after which the patwari of the area, Muhammad Basharat, informed the committee that CDA’s documents issued to Nusrat Shaheen are fake as ICT documents do not have any such records.

They said that the Revenue Department Deputy Tehsildar Mirza Saeed had verified the ‘fake’ documents and his alleged frontman, Naveed Abbasi, collected the money through made through the scam.

It is pertinent to note that Mirza Saeed was an employee of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) who merged himself in CDA through his lobby.

Sources also said that a number of CDA officials have been found involved in this forgery despite the fact they are serving on important posts.
