LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Aug 12 in a case pertaining to illegal awarding of liquor license, it emerged on Thursday.
According to APP, the provincial chief executive has been directed to appear at the agency’s headquarter in Lahore for interrogation into awarding of license to a private hotel. According to law, only the Excise director general can issue a liquor license.
Punjab Excise DG Hafiz Ziaul Mustafa had on May 24, in view of the threat of sale/purchase of poisonous alcohol on Eidul Fitr, issued a letter to stop the illegal sale/purchase.
The letter had directed for vigilance to stop the sale of poisonous alcohol during Eid and added special attention should be paid to liquor license holders.
