Pakistan’s coronavirus death toll crosses 6,000 mark

LAHORE: The number of deaths because of Covid-19 in Pakistan surpassed 6,000 on Wednesday as the country reported 15 deaths in the last 24 hours. The nationwide tally of fatalities has gone up to 6,014.

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported 675 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising the number of positive cases to 281,136.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of number of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad.

Till now 122,016 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 93,571 in Punjab, 34,324 in KP, 15,122 in Islamabad, 11,780 in Balochistan, 2,105 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 2,218 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Furthermore, 2,231 individuals have lost their lives to the virus in Sindh, 2,157 in Punjab, 1,213 in KP, 136 in Balochistan, 167 in Islamabad, 55 in GB, and 55 in AJK.

Pakistan has conducted 2,043,870 coronavirus tests so far; 11,915 in the last 24 hours. 254,286 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the country so far whereas 872 patients are in critical condition.
