ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi will address a special session of the Senate on Wednesday, called to express Pakistan’s resolve and commitment to Kashmir in addition to raising voice against the continuing Indian atrocities in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
The aim of the special session is to draw the international community’s attention towards the fascist Indian government’s illegal actions of August 5, 2019, and put pressure on India to stop inhumane aggression in the occupied territory, said a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat on Tuesday.
The session will be held on a single point agenda on Kashmir while parliamentary leaders will take part in a debate on Kashmir. A resolution will also be passed at the conclusion of the debate.
Ambassadors of different countries will also be specially invited to the session for which the Senate hall will be adorned with flags of Pakistan and Kashmir.
On this occasion, a special booklet will be prepared by the Senate containing information about its role played for the Kashmir cause over the years, including the conference held last year as well as resolutions passed among other steps.
This booklet will be sent to 56,000 parliamentarians around the world and international human rights organisations.
The members of Senate will also take part in the walk held to mark the day on Constitution Avenue on August 5.
