The PTI-led federal government is mulling reintegrating what is now the Sindh province back into the defunct Bombay Presidency after it is done making Karachi a federal territory.
“Karachi, are you ready to be part of federal territory,” tweeted Syed Abbas Jafri, a PTI MPA from Karachi. “Article 149-4 states that the PM has authority to declare any area a federal state. Ab hoga Karachi azaad!! Inshallah #MPAAbbasjafri.”
“Yes, we are going to use Article 149-4 to make Karachi a federal territory,” said information minister Shibli Faraz. “It will be done as soon as we get past the hurdle of Article 149-4 saying nothing of the sort.”
“But the PPP is mismanaging the entirety of Sindh much worse than it is running Karachi. So we were initially thinking of federalising the entire province as well. But then, we thought, it is so bad, we need to take it to a level even more removed than the federal tier, specially on the off-chance PPP gets the federal government again. So we’re moving the province’s control across space and time!”
“This is going to require some work,” said Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who will, after the decision, rule Sindh. “I don’t know if the Gujarat and Karnataka governments are also going to hand over its bits of the Sindh Presidency and I know for sure that the governments of Oman and Yemen aren’t going to hand over their parts.”
“Ah, still we will have Sindh now. If only LK Advani was still alive to see his beloved Sindh back with us again,” he said, emotionally.
“Tell that son of a b***** that I’m still alive,” senior BJP leader LK Advani told The Dependent over the phone.
