–Sindh records over 3,000 recoveries from Covid-19 in 24-hours
–Punjab reports less than 10 deaths in a day for a week
KARACHI: There has been a significant improvement in the number of recoveries from Covid-19 in Pakistan with the tally reaching 237,434.
According to the latest statistics issued by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday, 1,226 new coronavirus cases have surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours taking the total figure to 273,112. These include 117,598 in Sindh, 91,901 in Punjab, 33,220 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 11,578 in Balochistan, 2,023 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 1,952 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
35 deaths were reported during the last 24 hours, while 23,254 tests were carried out during this period. The number of total active Covid-19 cases is 29,857.
According to the NCOC, there is no patient on ventilator in AJK and Balochistan. Out of 1,859 ventilators allocated for Covid-19 patients across the country, 238 are occupied.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday announced that the province witnessed 3,384 recoveries from the infection during the last 24 hours.
The province has witnessed 107,403 recoveries from coronavirus so far, said the chief minister while announcing daily figures of the virus.
He said that the province recorded 713 fresh cases of Covid-19 during the past 24-hours, bringing the tally of overall infections in the province to 118,311.
The province witnessed 2,151 fatalities from coronavirus so far, including 16 more patients who succumbed to the infection within last 24 hours, CM Murad said.
He said that currently there are 8,634 patients being treated in hospitals with a majority of them, 8137 people, isolated at their homes, while 418 patients are shifted to hospitals and 16 to isolation centres for medical care.
“The province currently has 415 critically ill Covid-19 patients,” the chief minister said with over 60 of them put on ventilators.
Meanwhile, the government of Punjab on Sunday reported 210 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the province’s total number of confirmed infections to 91,901.
According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, three more people died of the disease during the aforementioned period, due to which the death toll in the province rose to 2,116.
12 more Covid-19 patients recuperated on Sunday, taking the number of recovered patients to 81,253 in the province. The province has conducted overall 692,613 virus tests so far.
