Pakistan’s active Covid-19 cases on a downward trajectory

–65,420 coronavirus patients have recovered in Sindh so far

ISLAMABAD: A total of 1,979 new coronavirus cases were reported in the country during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 253,604, while 50 more patients died of the virus during the aforementioned period taking the death toll to 5,320.

According to the latest statistics issued by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday, 170,656 patients have so far recovered from coronavirus across the country. The number of total active Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 77,628.

A total of 21,020 corona tests were carried out during the last 24 hours.

The total reported cases include 106,622 in Sindh, 87,492 in Punjab, 30,747 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 11,192 in Balochistan, 14,202 in Islamabad, 1,694 Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 1,655 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).


Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 1,151 new cases of coronavirus were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the province to 107,773.

In a statement on the coronavirus situation, CM Murad said that 37 more people succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the disease to 1,863.

The chief minister said that 1591 more Covid-19 patients have recovered, taking the number of recovered patients in the province to 65,420.

The chief minister said that 40,490 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment in the province, including 412 at isolation centres and 38,917 at their homes. He maintained that 1,161 Covid-19 patients are admitted at the hospitals and out of these patients, 843 are in critical condition. The chief minister said that 121 patients are on ventilators in the province.

CM Murad said that 9,972 tests were conducted in Sindh during the past 24 hours and the overall number of tests in the province has reached 593,668. He said that among 1,151 fresh cases in Sindh, 415 were detected in Karachi in the past 24 hours.
