LAHORE: The Punjab government on Wednesday decided to impose smart lockdown in seven neighbourhoods of the city following a significant surge in coronavirus cases there.
According to details, the areas that will be sealed for two weeks starting midnight tonight include Wapda Town, Defence Housing Authority (DHA) EME, A-2 block of Township, Johar Town’s C Block, Chungi Amar Sadhu’s main bazaar, Punjab Government Scheme and Green City.
Punjab has reported 930 new cases, taking the provincial tally to 83,599, according to the government’s database on coronavirus.
It has also reported 30 additional fatalities from the virus, taking the death toll to 1,929. The number of recovered patients in the province has risen to 50,916.
