Govt trying its best to tackle teetering economy amid coronavirus, says Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said the government was trying its best to tackle the teetering economy amid coronavirus outbreak.

According to APP, Fawad said there were three main schemes that are currently underway, aimed at providing relief to the deserving people.

“Over 16 million people have applied for financial assistance but only 4 million have been selected as the others were unable to fulfill the criteria,” he added.

He said the welfare programs, initiated by the PTI government, are for the betterment of the common man regardless of their political affiliations.

Fawad appreciated that Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a relief package for construction industry that he said will create job opportunities.

Fawad said the initiative would prove to be a great relief for people in a crisis like the epidemic. He said Pakistan has now started manufacturing testing kits and sanitizers at a cheaper cost which, once completed, would be provided throughout the country.

The government was also motivating fresh graduates and researchers to come forward and play their roles and support the government to defeat the pandemic, he added.
