Punjab police on Tuesday completely sealed off Raiwind city, shutting down all general and medical stores and barring all residents from leaving their houses.
“Even now more than 2,200 people of the Tableeghi Jamaat are present in the gathering,” police said.
It may be noted here that there is a tableeghi mosque adjacent to Raiwind city where 50 men were suspected to have contracted the virus. Upon screening, it was discovered that 27 did indeed have the virus.
Many people have either been shifted to the Kala Shah Kaku quarantine facility or a quarantine facility in Kasur while a team of doctors is currently testing them to ascertain whether or not more might be infected.
