LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday termed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s national address as “disappointing”.
In a statement, the PML-N leader said that the speech was “full of confusion” which she said is proof that he has no strategy to combat the situation.
“People were fooled in the name of dam fund earlier, and the government is on the same track again in the guise of the proposed tiger force, she said while claiming that a common man will not get any relief from the PM’s relief fund.
Aurangzeb said the premier should have told the nation that how many ventilators have been purchased to save lives. She asked the premier to not address the nation again which “will be a big relief for people”.
In his address on Monday, the premier had announced the establishment of Corona Relief Tiger Force that will work in collaboration with the civil administration and army to contain the spread of the virus.
“Our volunteers will help deliver food to areas under lockdown, besides disseminating awareness to the public. Young doctors, nurses, drivers and people belonging to any profession could choose to become part of the force,” he said.
PM Imran had also announced the Corona Relief Fund at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), where charitable contributions can be made.
He had observed that Pakistan’s relief package is around $8 billion which can be further enhanced depending on the public’s needs. “It has been decided that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will give loans to industries on low markup so that employees are not laid off by their respective companies,” he added.
