–Also gives Rs4.16m to help Pakistan’s fight against coronavirus epidemic

ISLAMABAD: The All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) has donated 16,000 face masks to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for supporting Pakistan’s fight to overcoming the daunting challenge of curbing the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The package was handed over here at the Chinese Embassy to PIMS Executive Director Prof. Anser Maqsood, witnessed by Minister Counsellor of the Embassy, Dr Wang Zhihua.

Moreover, APCEA has also collected Rs4.16 million to donate to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the transaction will be completed in a few days.

The donations were made by six Chinese enterprises through their local branches or subsidiaries in Pakistan, inclusive of Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd. (POWERCHINA), China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC), China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. (CSAIL), China State Construction Engineering Corp. Ltd. (CSCEC), China-Pak Investment Corporation (CPIC) and MEAR PC Solutions, etc. which has been serving this country for years.

At the beginning of the global outbreak of COVID-19, APCEA called on its members to provide their utmost support to Pakistani people in fighting against the spread of the pandemic, and received many positive responses to this appeal in succession, despite the fact that most of the donors themselves are also facing a shortage of resources during this challenging time.

In an exclusive interview with Pakistan Today, APCEA Vice Chairman (VC) Zhang Jun said that when China was fighting against the outbreak, the Pakistani government and people did their level best to help China which is why they must also extend help now.

“Now, Pakistan needs help. Therefore, Chinese enterprises will definitely stand with their Pakistani brothers together,” he said, adding that the Chinese companies will continue supporting Pakistan via different ways aiming to tide over the difficulties jointly with the spirit of solidarity and traditional friendship.

APCEA is a nonprofit self-regulatory organisation registered under the law of Pakistan. It has three branch offices in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

Till now, there are nearly 300 member enterprises, involving infrastructure, finance, energy, trade and other fields. The association gives full play to the function of communication, coordination, rights protection and service, enhancing the exchanges between China and Pakistan.
