LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Tuesday approved the recruitment of 10,000 police officers to immediately fill vacant posts, promising that the government will take measures to make police stations public-friendly across the province.
Chairing a meeting here in Lahore, the chief minister also ordered the purchase 500 police mobiles on an urgent basis.
“Around 318 more police vans, costing Rs1.2 billion, would be purchased this year,” he added.
“As many as 47 police vans will be given to the Punjab Highway Police and around 21 vans would be purchased for the Punjab Elite Force.
Buzdar also ordered that 45 police stations be immediately made functional by completing construction work
The Punjab chief minister said that all necessary measures to bring stability in the prices of essential edibles, including flour must be endured and directed commissioners and deputy commissioners (DC) to launch a crackdown on hoarders and illegal profiteers and take indiscriminate stern action against them.
The chief minister asserted that all administrative powers should be exercised to ensure the provision of essential items to the people at fixed rates.
