Most coronavirus cases in Lahore are being reported from the upscale areas of Defence and Cantt, a local media outlet reported on Monday.
It may be noted here that a total of 116 cases were present in Lahore as of March 29. Interestingly, 28 of these people belong to the Tablighi Jamaat, in the Raiwind area of the city.
Earlier this month, hundreds of thousands of people from across the country had gathered for a five-day annual congregation in the city, despite government warnings that the gathering could spark a spread of the deadly infection.
The infected people have now been put into quarantine by the Punjab government.
“Besides Raiwind, the most number of positive cases are emerging from the Defence and Cantt area of Lahore,” Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) director operations Nisar Ahmed said while speaking on a local news channel.
“Many elites living in posh areas have a travel history and ignorant. They have been carrying on with their kitty parties and are not following proper social distancing rules,” he added.
