ISLAMABAD: Diplomats belonging to different countries are leaving Pakistan as the number of coronavirus cases continue to increase.
Sources said that diplomats belonging to the United States embassy in Islamabad are going back to their home states. On Sunday, 75 out of 103 officials of the embassy left Pakistan through flight AWC 720.
Recently, a US diplomat tested positive for coronavirus and now another employee has also been showing signs of the illness.
The US government has also announced that it has no greater responsibility than the safety and security of its citizens.
It is pertinent to mention that the US embassy has also cancelled all appointments.
“As of 17 March, the US Embassy and consulates in Pakistan are cancelling routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time,” a message on the embassy’s website read.
