–Jirga demands public hanging for the suspect
PESHAWAR: The Hangu police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested the alleged molester and killer of a nine-year-old girl Madiha.
Speaking to the media, Hangu DPO Shahid Ahmad Khan said that the police succeeded in arresting the killer of the minor girl. The suspect has been identified as Ilyas, son of Rehman Gul, the cousin of the victim.
He said that police also recovered a pistol from the possession of the accused which he used during the crime.
“During the initial investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and has been shifted to Kohat for further interrogation,” the DPO said.
Madiha went missing on Saturday, and later her body was found in the bushes near her village. The initial investigation confirmed that the minor girl was shot at from the back after being molested. The brutal murderer had also strangled the minor girl which was evident from scars on her body.
Meanwhile, a grand jirga was held at Hangu which demanded public execution of the accused and otherwise warned that the house of the accused would be bulldozed. The jirga agreed that no one would be allowed to commit such brutal and anti-human crime in Hangu in the future.
MPA Shah Faisal said that the government was taking tangible steps to avert recurrence of such incidents adding an exemplary punishment would be given to the accused involved in the to prevent the repetition of such incidents.
He further said that the enactment of laws was also underway in the provincial and National Assembly (NA) against such crimes.
