KARACHI: A gang of robbers looted female students in a university bus in Ibrahim Hyderi area of the metropolis on Monday.
According to sources, a gang of three robbers entered the bus on Monday morning and looted the female students of their valuables within the remits of the Ibrahim Hyderi area.
Sources added the three robbers intercepted the bus at Bhittai Colony bus stop and initially one of them held the bus driver hostage.
Meanwhile, his accomplices had deprived the female students of their mobile phones and handbags and fled the scene. The parents of the students and local people of the area gathered soon after the incident and complained about a late response from the police.
One of the students said despite reaching out on the emergency numbers of police, they arrived an hour later at the scene. She further said that the robbers also misbehaved with the female students.
The students demanded to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Kaleem Imam to take stern action of the incident. They also demanded the arrest of robbers.
The parents of the students appealed to Dr Imam to order action against the police for the delayed response.
