LAHORE – Following the relatively subdued reaction to leg-spinner Shadab Khan’s recently surfaced scandal, which saw him become the latest Pakistani cricketer to be the target of audio and video leaks, opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has advised his teammate to work on his performances on the field if he wants the masses to show interest in what he does off it.
Talking via a video chat platform on Wednesday night, where Imam had the flower filter on and Shadab lied down with a massive heart underneath his face, the left-handed batsman told the aspiring all-rounder that he needs to focus on being well-rounded.
“I get that the whole parchi thing gets me a lot of media traction, but I’ve been consistently performing in the ODIs – just look at my numbers – and with last year being the World Cup year that obviously mattered,” Imam told Shadab, whose form has taken a visible dip over the past couple of seasons.
“Furthermore, not only does the media and people care more if you’re performing on-field, I further showed my own all-round skills through the leaks as well. I mean the horse has now been immortalised, and will be the yardstick for future cricket scandals,” Imam added during the video whose further, more controversial, details will be leaked if this scribe does not receive two khokhas before the start of the Pakistan Super League.
