LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday granted exemption from appearance to Sharif brothers in multiple corruption/misuse of authority cases against them.
According to details, former premier Nawaz Sharif’s medical report was submitted in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. Following which, the court granted him exemption from appearance.
Defense counsel Amjad Pervez presented the medical report. “Nawaz Sharif is facing severe health issues including, heart, blood pressure and platelets issue,” he informed the court.
The court also granted exemption from appearance to Shehbaz Sharif in the Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing scheme and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.
The court also extended the judicial remand of Yousaf Abbas Sharif for 14 days in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. Hamza Shahbaz also received a 14-day extension in his remand in the Ramzan Sugar Mills and assets beyond income cases.
Hearing a plea filed by Shehbaz’s family seeking to unfreeze their assets, the accountability court summoned the investigation officer of the case along with the relevant record and adjourned the hearing till Jan 31.
