KKF not on paper but still working on ground, SHC told

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday submitted its reply on the plea of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Ahmed Ali in Sindh High Court (SHC) against the transfer of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) money laundering case to Islamabad.

A two-member bench of SHC, headed by Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar, heard the plea and re-issued the notice to KKF for comments in the case.

Assistant Director FIA Ijaz Ahmed appeared in the court and submitted the FIA reply about transferring of KKF money laundering case to Islamabad.

“Is KKF still operating in the city?” the bench asked IFA official. The FIA official replied that KKF is not on paper but is still working on the ground.

The assistant attorney general informed the bench that former senator Ahmed Ali himself had remained the part of KKF. The bench decided to hear the plea after the court holidays.

The petitioner said that the transfer of the KKF money laundering case from Karachi to Islamabad was illegal. He said that the director general FIA and the interior ministry had violated the law. He requested the court that the transfer of the case to Islamabad be declared illegal and void.
