Doctors to be transferred to home districts, Punjab Assembly told

LAHORE: Provincial Minister Health Dr Yasmin Rashid said the government would transfer doctors to their home districts besides creating posts for psychiatrists and psychologists at public sector hospitals.

She was responding to a question by MPA Sadia Taimur, on Private Members Day, during the Question Hour session in the Punjab Assembly session on Tuesday with Panel of Chairman Mian Muhammad Shafi in the chair.

The PA session started one hour and 45 minutes behind its scheduled time of 11:00 am.

Provincial Minister Health Dr Yasmin told the house that new posts of psychologists and psychiatrists were being created for the treatment of addicts in district hospitals of the province, adding that 10 beds had been dedicated for the treatment of addicts in district hospital Rajanpur.

She said a post of a psychiatrist was advertised for Dera Ghazi Khan but not a single doctor applied for the post despite the fact that a salary of Rs 150,000 was offered against the post.
