KP CM for ensuring 100pc utilisation of development budget

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan here on Thursday directed all departments to ensure 100pc utilisation of developmental budget with a focus on the provision of quality services to people.

The Chief Minister further directed all the departments to surrender unutilized budget by April 15 and additional and supplementary grant should be released after his consultation.

He said that the delay in the completion of approved development projects would not be tolerated and directed all the departments to conduct review meetings on the utilisation of its annual developmental budget on a monthly basis.

The Chief Minister passed these directives during a review meetings pertaining to annual developmental projects here.

In the past, he said, focus was paid on construction of buildings rather provision of better services to people.

The meeting was told that Rs9452 million were allocated for 308 projects regarding construction and rehabilitation of roads during 2018-19 and up till now 93pc budget was utilized on it.

Likewise, Rs3427 million were earmarked for 70 projects of Elementary and Secondary Education department during 2018-19.

Despite such huge funding, the CM noted that several children were left of admission in schools, saying it was the responsibility of Government to make effective planning for bringing these children under school net.

The meeting was told that Rs5599million were allocated for 176 irrigation projects with 81pc utilization so far.

Likewise, Rs2917 million were earmarked for 50 clean drinking water projects against which so far Rs2287 million have been utilized.

As many as Rs1282 million were spent on 37 projects of local government department so far while 22 million were released for five projects of environment department and about 70pc funds were utilized on these projects till to date.

As many as Rs723 million were released for 28 projects for Relief Department against which 71pc were utilized whereas Rs880 million were allocated for 35 projects of Law Department against which 76pc were utilized so far.

As many as Rs1117 million were so far spent on 67 projects of sports and culture department and Rs382 million on 17 projects of Industries Department, the meeting was informed.
