Sindh IG assures speedy justice in Mufti Usmani’s attack case

–CM promises benefits to police martyr’s children

–Karachi police register case for terrorism, attempted murder

KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Saturday revealed that police have uncovered some links in the attack on Mufti Taqi Usmani and assured that the suspects will be arrested soon.

The Sindh IG told reporters that investigation was underway and the city administration was going to launch a Safe City Project soon. “We have to protect our people and uphold the law,” he said.

Speaking of the attack in which a police officer was also martyred, the Sindh police chief said, “2,500 Sindh police officials have been martyred and the provincial government offers the best package for families of martyred officials.”

CM SHAH PROMISES BENEFITS:

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has promised to fund the treatment of the visually impaired children of a policeman who was martyred during an assassination bid on Mufti Taqi Usmani.

Renowned religious scholar Mufti Mohammad Taqi Usmani survived an assassination attempt in Karachi on Friday as unidentified gunmen riding motorcycles opened fire on two vehicles belonging to Darul Uloom Korangi, killing two guards and injuring two others.

Karachi Police chief Dr Amir Shaikh told reporters that Mufti Usmani and his wife were in one of the cars targeted by the assailants, adding that the religious scholar remained unhurt in the attack.

Shah paid his respects to the martyred and promised not to leave his family alone by taking care of the medical and educational expenses of his children.

He also called on Mufti Taqi Usmani and told him that his wife and grandchildren were very lucky to escape the attack unhurt.

CASE REGISTERED FOR TERRORISM:

Meanwhile, Karachi police has registered a case against six unknown persons for attacking prominent religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani in which two people were killed and two others were injured.

According to police, FIR number 176 was registered under the clauses of terrorism and attempted murder.
