Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that his government will seek the help and support of Dr Mahathir Muhammad’s Malaysian government to figure out how to crack down on Islamophobia.

“As we know, the rampant Islamophobia found within Pakistan is the most pressing issue that the country faces today,” he said, in a joint press conference with the visiting Malaysian head of government. “We shall seek the support of Dr Muhammad in figuring out how to save Pakistan’s increasingly beleaguered Muslim community.”

“Dr Mahathir knows issues of Islamophobia well,” he said.

“In Pakistan, we may bemoan how only a paltry 98 percent of the population is Muslim, but in Malaysia, it is only 69 percent, while a massive 39 percent is non-Muslim,” Khan continued.

“If all else fails, we would have no choice but to reach out to Saudi Arabia, which has overcome its brutal Islamophobia problem through sustained and effective policies,” Khan said.
