NAB names Rauf Siddiqui in illegal appointments case

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday named former provincial minister and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Rauf Siddiqui in a case pertaining to illegal appointments.

NAB presented its inquiry report before Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ali Ahmad Sheikh in which it named the MQM-P leader and others in a case pertaining to illegal appointments in Sindh Small Industries Corporation.

NAB prosecutor told the court that the anti-graft body has evidence against the MQM-P leader and a letter has been written to NAB headquarters for filing a reference against him.

To this, the court ordered the accountability watchdog to present its report on May 2.

It merits a mention that Siddiqui has also been indicted in a case pertaining to the deadly 2012 Baldia Factory fire, on the orders of an anti-terrorism court (ATC).
